Beardow Adams GmbH
Part of the Beardow Adams Group since 2014, Beardow Adams GmbH (Formely Klebstoffwerke Collodin) in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) has been at the forefront of adhesive technology since it was founded in 1875. Beardow Adams GmbH manufactures environmentally friendly solvent-free adhesives, many of them based on natural materials such as casein (milk protein) and starch. The main markets served are labelling, packaging, converting and automotive. Beardow Adams GmbH also supplies the other products of the Beardow Adams Group, including a full range of hot melt adhesives for use in packaging, tapes & labels, woodworking, bookbinding, non-wovens and product assembly. Recent re-investment in the Frankfurt site has built a state-of-the-art production facility with increased capacity. Beardow Adams GmbH is well-positioned for further growth as part of the Beardow Adams Group.
History
Klebstoffwerke Collodin was founded by Gustav Wolf in 1875 to make adhesives for the paper and shoe industry. It was acquired in 1938 by the families Schultz and Nauth who continued to develop activities in paper chemicals and bookbinding adhesives through the 1950s and 1960s. In 1975, the company entered the market for labelling adhesives, which are used extensively in the brewing, water and soft drinks industries. In the 1980s, the company developed speciality solvent-free adhesives for various applications in automotive such as acoustic insulation, interiors and fabric bonding. The partnership with Beardow Adams began in 1989, when Collodin became a distributor for Beardow Adams’ hot melt adhesives. In January 2014, the company was acquired by the Beardow Adams Group. Over the years, Collodin has remained family-owned and flexible to the needs of Europe’s largest adhesive market, Germany, as well as exporting its innovative products to many other countries. In 2017, it was renamed Beardow Adams GmbH.
