Beardow Adams acquires business assets of Unicol Adhesivos Industriales SL
August 2008


Beardow Adams, one of the top five European manufacturers of hot melt adhesives has acquired the business assets of Spanish company Unicol, through its subsidiary company in Spain – Paniker SL. The acquisition took place in August 2008.

Barcelona based Unicol was founded in 2001 and has had a successful history of developing and producing hot melts and other industrial adhesives.

“Its absorption into the Beardow Adams family allows us to combine the products and expertise of Unicol with that of Paniker and Beardow Adams,” says Bob Adams, Beardow Adams’ Chairman and Managing Director. Production of hot melts will move to the Beardow Adams facility in Milton Keynes and that of other adhesives to Paniker's manufacturing facility just outside Barcelona.

“Unicol has particular strength in many markets, especially in bookbinding, and this acquisition allows us to create further advantage for our customers in the UK and overseas through an expanded product range that will help enhance end-user performance and profitability.”


Beardow Adams wins the International Business category in the South East Business Awards

On Thursday 6th March, Beardow Adams was named as the winner of the International Business category in the South East Business Awards, managed by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA). More than 300 companies from across the South East entered the awards, with 28 making it through to the finals. Lord Jones, Minister for Trade & Investment, presented the award to Bob Adams.

This is a prestigious award, that recognises companies that have demonstrated a powerful business contribution to the region. Jeff Alexander, Executive Director of SEEDA’s Global Competitiveness Division and head judge for the South East Business Awards, commended Beardow Adams, commenting: “ The company faced tough competition and has truly been established as one of the region’s most outstanding companies.
