Packaging adhesives: from manufacturing, to packaging and transport

Packaging today has many more functions than just protecting goods. It provides information for customers, transports products from A to B, and is proven to be a powerful brand ambassador. It is essential to have innovative partners providing support for the entire process chain: from manufacturing, to packaging and transport, whilst keeping environmental concerns in view. We, at Beardow Adams, have taken this to a whole new level with our BAMFutura™ adhesives range.

Adhesive solutions for manufacturing / primary packaging

Primary packaging is the first layer of protection around a product and the last piece of packaging a customer opens. It can be a bag containing crisps / chips, or a wrapper around a bar of soap. There is more to primary packaging thank you might think. It also functions as an advertising tool. A product’s customer appeal is determined by its visual appearance, degree of finishing, and originality. Therefore, primary packaging needs to be of the best quality and aesthetically pleasing.

We have manufactured adhesives for use within the most demanding carton sealing, lamination, aseptic packaging, sacks, and bags applications.

BAMFutura™ 51 is our most advanced packaging adhesive and offers superior adhesion to demanding coated surfaces. With unrivalled resistance to low temperatures and high heat resistance, BAMFutura 51 offers our broadest spectrum of performance and is perfect for a multitude of high volume, fast setting applications.

Adhesive solutions for secondary packaging

Secondary packaging often serves a more practical and protective purpose. It organises or stabilises products to make sure they are ready to go onto the shelves. It also makes sure products in primary packaging are shipped easily and are stored safely. Like primary packaging that is displayed, secondary packaging is an important tool for brand marketing. It is an excellent way to reinforce your brand and enhance your products’ visibility on, for example, a crowded supermarket shelf.

It is vital that case making, carton sealing and tray forming adhesives are durable and strong, so they can hold a product safely inside and protect the product under your packaging during the rigors of transportation. Beardow Adams has manufactured a comprehensive range of hot-melt adhesives for secondary packaging that has been engineered for use within the most demanding case making, carton sealing and tray forming applications.

Our most popular tray forming and case and carton sealing formulations include BAMFutura™ 1, BAMFutura 43, BAMFutura 51 and BAM 418.

Adhesive solutions for pallet stabilisation during transport

Using adhesives for pallet stabilisation allows products to be transported safely and without the need for expensive layer pads and an excessive amount of plastic shrink wrap. It provides the transport industry with an eco-friendly and cost-effective option to transport goods from point A to point B. Critically, and more importantly to the environment, they can drastically reduce overall plastic usage.

Placing as little as 60 grams of adhesive between pallets results in a stabler load, preventing products from moving around or toppling over. We have developed a range of hot-melt and water-based adhesives for pallet stabilisation to suit each customer’s application, depending on the bonding strength required and materials to be used.
