BAMFutura 43 seals the deal for paper bag manufacturer

It’s always a great feeling at work when you gain a new customer however, it's just the way of business that losing one to a competitor at some point is an inevitability. Many companies at that stage would opt to wipe that customer off their lists, but we as a business believe it’s vital to take a moment to reflect and then, if it’s realistically achievable, we make it our mission to win that business back.

At Beardow Adams, we work with businesses of all sizes and we aim to identify, empathise and fulfil every customer’s needs in the shortest possible time. We pride ourselves on meeting tough challenges with superior products that customers can rely on. It is our vision to be globally recognised as a high-quality, innovative adhesive manufacturer and our team work incredibly hard to achieve the highest standards of adhesive at the most reasonable prices.

Last year, we lost the business of a small packaging manufacturer in the UK to a competitor with a cheaper product. However, in the adhesive business, there are many instances when the lowest price is not the best deal. We often ask ourselves: ‘lower cost, but at what quality?’ The customer was using our adhesive for the construction of their paper bags (for the food, medical and retail industries) before they made the switch.

After a short period of time, our sales team followed up with the customer to see if they were happy with the quality of service they were now receiving. Following the feedback they gave us, we recommended the company try one of our new metallocene-based adhesives on their Preo and Nordson hot-melt application systems that was an improved match on the previous grade of ours they used, but more competitive on price: BAMFutura™ 43.

BAMFutura 43 is a metallocene-based packaging adhesive from our best-selling BAMFutura range. The versatile adhesive is happy at lower ambient temperatures and works well for paper bags as it’s flexible, but it’s also ideal for case and carton sealing applications for both corrugated and plain card. The customer used various paper substrates for their bags, including Kraft and the adhesive they needed was for side seaming and patch handle gluing.

The paper bag manufacturer was so impressed with the recommendation of BAMFutura 43, our sales team won the business back with forward orders for the rest of the year. Our customer required a clean-running, outstanding adhesion and good flexibility-adhesive, and that’s what we were able to provide with BAMFutura 43. The latest development to this grade is that it’s now available in vegan form: BAMFutura 43VE.

Our team recognise that lost customers represent a huge area for opportunity and were pleased they were able to satisfy this client’s quality and price needs. They now look to secure further business opportunities with the manufacturer with our water-based adhesives for different applications.

Beardow Adams’ BAMFutura range is eco-friendly (no-waste) and known for its hassle-free running properties that lead to a reduction in maintenance costs and increased productivity.
