Sustainable adhesives for paper bag manufacturing

Consumers and businesses increasingly demand products that support the needs of the environment, whilst still fulfilling their core purpose. Carrier bags are no different, with trends showing a clear move from plastic to paper, and with some countries banning plastic bags altogether.

Beardow Adams has invested in the latest raw materials and formulation technologies to develop glues that are bio-based - containing a high percentage of materials from plant-based sources - such as BAM 418.

In addition, our high-performance adhesives also help the environment through increased resource efficiency, with excellent mileage, clean running properties, and pot stability allowing manufacturers to create more with less and to deliver greater value with less input.

Being sustainable isn’t the only benefit our adhesives provide. They also offer excellent flexibility of application, bonding a range of materials – paper, string, and film – in different thicknesses, across a diverse range of application systems.

Beardow Adams’ hot-melt adhesives are ideal for high volume applications, premium products using thicker materials, and for challenging handle patch designs where movement during production can cause the handle and bag to come apart.

Our water-based range meanwhile, offers excellent value for lower volume applications – bread bags, for example - where thinner materials are required.

In addition to adhesives, we support manufacturers with a range of services: from lab testing to adhesive grade suggestions, to advice for optimal application set ups, thus ensuring Beardow Adams is the perfect partner for your paper bag applications.
